WELCOME TO ST DOMINIC’S PRE-GRADE
Here at St Dominic’s we pride ourselves on an environment that fosters the development and growth of the whole child. Each day is structured in such a way that the girls are guided through a variety of activities that are designed to stimulate their cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual well being. To an untrained eye this may seem like playing and the girls feel that they are playing. Through it all, a lot of learning takes place.
Play allows our girls to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity as well as physical, cognitive and emotional strength. Play is vital for brain development. Play allows children to interact with and discover the world around them in a way that makes them feel safe and secure. They learn to conquer their fears and practice roles that will, in later life, lead them to success, play allows our children to develop new competencies which leads to increased confidence and resiliency that they need to cope with the many challenges of life.
At St Dominic’s Pre-School we see play as an integral part of the academic environment. It forms the base on which we can build the skills that will later lead to academic success. Play also attends totally to the social and emotional development while holding on tightly to the cognitive enrichment.
